William Leonard Keller Obituary
Keller, William Leonard 91, Died in Dallas Nov. 14, 2013, with family by his side. Bill was born on Aug. 7, 1922 to Dr. Lawrence and Irene Keller. Bill was predeceased by both older brother Larry and younger brother John. He graduated from North Dallas High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and served as a bomber navigator and bombardier during World War II. After his service, he attended SMU, where he earned an undergraduate and law degree before his Master of Law from George Washington University. Upon graduation, Bill clerked for a Dallas firm, followed by employment in Washington, D.C. as a legal advisor to the NLRB. Bill returned to Dallas and joined the Clark firm, which later became Clark, West, Keller, Butler & Ellis. Principally, Bill practiced labor law, industrial relations and employment law, representing both nat'l and internat'l companies. Bill held various positions in legal organizations, including chairmanships of the Labor and Employment Sections of both the American and Texas Bar Assoc'ns. In addition, Bill was a trustee and member of the Executive Committee of the Southwestern Legal Foundation (now the Center for Amer. and Internat'l Law). He chaired the Center's nat'l Labor and Employment Law program for 30+ years. In 2001, Bill practiced with a Dallas firm that became Hunton & Williams, from which he retired as Sr. Counsel in 2013. Bill is survived by his wife Carol, sons William Jr. and John, daughter Jennifer, daughter-in-law Diana, and grandchildren Catherine and William III. A Celebration of Life will be held at Central Christian Church, 4711 Westside in Dallas, on Dec. 2, at 4pm.
