Adkins, Winston Lamar Winston Lamar Adkins was born June 24, 1932, to Henry Maurice Adkins and Chloe Britt Adkins, in Amarillo, Texas. He passed away August 14, 2013, in Dallas, Texas. Winston was graduated from Amarillo High School in 1950, and in 1955, he became a third generation graduate of the University of Texas School of Law. He was a Chancellor and a member of Order of the Coif, and served as an associate editor of the Texas Law Review. He served in the United States Army before joining Liddell, Austin, Dawson & Sapp in Houston. He also practiced with Jenkens, Anson, Spradley & Gilchrist in Dallas before joining Texas Instruments. Thereafter, he was General Counsel/Secretary of Century Development Corp. in Houston, and Redman Industries in Dallas. Winston was a faithful member of Park Cities Baptist Church and the Bob Glaze Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the North Dallas Rotary Club, Dallas Bar Association, ABA, Houston Club, Park Cities Club, Federalist Society, and several Republican clubs, among others. Survivors include his children, Lamar K. Adkins of Dallas and Alissa A. Adkins of Corpus Christi, his former wife, Catherine K. Adkins of Dallas, his brother, Allan B. Adkins of Amarillo, and many friends and colleagues. A memorial service will be held at Park Cities Baptist Church, Ellis Chapel, 3933 Northwest Parkway, Dallas, Texas, on Friday, August 30, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Park Cities Baptist Church.
