WAIRE, Calvin C. 86, of Union, OH formerly of Attica, passed away Sunday evening, December 9, 2012 at Grandview Medical Center in Dayton, OH. On February 24, 1926, in Attica, he was born to Lester and Gladys (Moyer) Waire. He married Angeline M. Gaietto on October 25, 1947 in St. Mary Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on December 12, 2004. Survivors include a son, Robert J. (Debbie) Waire of Richmond, VA; son in law, David P. Evans of Clayton, OH; sister, Bernice Mira of Florida; and 3 grandchildren, Catherine, Elizabeth, and Michelle. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Ronald J. Waire on August 24, 1956; daughter, Lou Ann Evans on April 13, 2006; two brothers, Burdell "les" Waire, and Donald Waire. Calvin was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Englewood, and Co-owner of Toll House Tavern in Union, OH for many years. He farmed and retired from American Standard after 35 years, later moving to Union, OH in 1988 where he was a member of the VFW 5434 and belonged to the American Legion Post 434, Bloomville. He enjoyed traveling the World and United States and cruising. Calvin was a United States Army veteran serving in WWII where he received a purple heart for his wounds received in action in France on March 15, 1945. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 13 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the United Veterans Council. Friends may visit with the family from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Wednesday December 12, 2012 at Hoffmann - Gottfried - Mack Funeral Home& Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or Calvert Catholic Schools. Hoffmann - Gottfried - Mack Funeral Home& Crematory is assisting with arrangements.
