News Death Notice

GARZA, Clara Anne age 65, of Huber Heights, passed away Friday, August 8, 2014 at her residence, eight years after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Clara graduated from St. Anthony High School, Baton Rouge, LA and received her Bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University. She moved to Dayton in 1985, was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, worked in several non-profit organizations including Dayton Opera (box office manager), Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (general manager), Dayton Area Director for the National Kidney Foundation and worked as an Educational Specialist at WPAFB retiring in 2009. Clara was known for her enthusiasm for life and for her community activity. She was Vice President of the Dayton Hispanic American Association, served on the Ohio Arts Council and participated in numerous fundraising activities on behalf ot the Dayton performing arts community. She had a passion for travel and was an avid science fiction fan. Clara was a beloved wife, mother, daughter & sister. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beatrice (Enriquez) Garza. Clara is survived by her husband, Steven Semple; daughter, Phaedra Michelle Sutton; son, Michael Semple; father, Noe Henry Garza, Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA; sister, Rose Marie Garza of Bogalusa, LA; brother, Noe Henry Garza, Jr. of San Antonio, TX; and many other relatives & friends. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6161 Chambersburg Road with Father Robert Hadden officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 10:30 AM until service time. The family wishes to convey their gratitude to The Hospice of Dayton for the professional and compassionate care they provided during Clara's final days and to the Noble Circle Project for their support, friendship & love they provided to Clara and her family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Marker & Heller Funeral Home, Huber Heights Chapel.
