News Death Notice

ARK, Edwin W. 88, of Enon passed away Tuesday morning, July 29, 2014 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born on October 18, 1925 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of Fred and Anna (Arthur) Ark. He graduated from Enon High School and then promptly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II. He was employed at Frigidaire, General Motors in Dayton and retired after 36 years of service. He was a charter member of the Enon Volunteer Fire Department and served for more than 20 years. He was also a charter member of the Enon VFW Post 8437, and a 72 year member of the Knob Prairie United Church of Christ. Edwin married Mary Anne Toner in 1947. Survivors include his wife and two daughters, Barbara Jane (Gordon) Wallace and Joyce Ellen (Andrew) Ware both of Springfield; a sister, Virginia Boyer of Enon. He also leaves a beloved granddaughter Erin Marie (Joseph) Latore and a great grandson Luca Latore of North Carolina; four sisters-in- law, Jane Lucietich of Califorina., Mildred Shook of Enon, Janice Covey of Colorado and Jacqueline Baird of Springfield; one brother-in-law John (Betty) Baird of Springfield and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son and daughter-in- law Gary Edwin and Randi Marie Ark in 1983 and four brothers-in- law, James Toner, William Baird, Elden Shook and Paul Boyer. A celebration of Edwin's life will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11 am in Knob Prairie United Church of Christ, 203 W. Main St. Enon, Ohio with Pastor Tom Ritschard-Sell officiating. Burial will follow at Enon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be to the Knob Prairie Church Building Fund or Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
