Florence Lucille GRIFFIN Obituary

News Death Notice

GRIFFIN, Florence Lucille was born April 16, 1924, in Aliquippa Pa., to Clayton and Marie (Pratt) Myers. She was raised with her sibling among the saints of "First Church of God and Christ". She graduated from Aliquippa High school and began working immediately at the local convenience store "Julia Kings", and later worked in a local factory in support of the US WWII/Korean War Effort. She married Calvin Coolidge Griffin in April 1947, and they raised three children as she worked and managed their own convenience store "Griffin Market". She later chose to close their store, and attended Hardy Bible Seminary studies and perform domestic service work in the local area. During her 20 plus years of Bible studying and teaching, and providing domestic service work, many lives inside her sphere of influence were spiritually impacted. After the passing of her husband in 2004, and experiencing some medical issues, she chose to live quietly in the Dayton Ohio area near her youngest son. During her ten-year stay in Ohio, she never stopped sharing her affirmation for Christ and giving spiritual guidance to those, she lived among. Nearing her passing, she regularly spoke of wanting to go home and be with the Lord. She's there now, and we are forever spiritually and humbly impacted for having her part of our lives. She leaves to cherish her memories: her (3) children, Cynthia Reynolds, Calvin Griffin Jr. and Eugene Griffin; (11) grandchildren, (21) great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held 1:00 P.M., FRIDAY, May 9, 2014 (TODAY) at Woodlawn Cemetery in Aliquippa PA. Arrangements entrusted to Thomas Funeral Home, 4520 Salem Ave. On-line condolences may also be sent to the family at www.thomasfunerals.com
