News Death Notice

BURTON, Homer Smith 88, passed away April 1, 2014. Born September 1, 1925 to Alfred and Mae Lee Burton in Point Pleasant, W. Va. After moving to Gallipolis, Ohio, he graduated from Gallia Academy High School, attended Rio Grande College and graduated from Cedarville College. He was an outstanding football player and received many awards including the Dixon-Beckett trophy. Homer was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from General Motors after 42 years of service. He was preceded in death by parents, son William, brothers John and Douglas Burton, sisters Evelyn Burton and Juanita Spencer. He is survived by daughter Deborah Burton, Dayton, OH, brother Herbert (Betty) Burton, Dayton, OH, sister-in-law Kuniko Burton of Tacoma, Washington, special friends Regina Clay, Richard Lovett, Nikki Walker, Lynn and Geneva Thomasson and Jasper Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Good Samaritan Hospital, Maria Joseph Nursing Center and Tridia Hospice. Visitation/Viewing will be 11AM- 12PM, Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at H.H. Roberts Mortuary, 38 S.
