News Death Notice
SHEPHERD, Sr., Mr. Hugh age 86 of Dayton, OH departed this life Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Mr. Shepherd was a native of Greenville, AL where he was a faithful member of Union Missionary Baptist Church. He resided in Dayton for over 60 yrs; was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, in which he served over 10 yrs and was a retiree of General Motors (Inland Division). He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Laura Shepherd; his wife of 26 years Susie A. Shepherd; brothers, Eddie Lee, John E., Lewis Jr., Harvey Sr., and Calvin; sisters, Ola Mae McDowell and Novella Wilson. He leaves to cherish his memory, daughters, Anita (Carl) Donaldson, Dayton, OH, Carolyn Armstead, Manassas, VA, and Lucretia "Chris" Shepherd, Englewood, OH; son, Hugh Shepherd Jr., Silver Spring, MD; grandchildren, Ariel Howard, Vandalia, OH, Takia Armstead and Saul Armstead Jr., Manassas, VA; sisters, Bennie Mae Moorer, Las Vegas, NV and Inez Crosskey, Monrovia, CA; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. Funeral Service 11:00a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at THOMAS FUNERAL HOME, 4520 Salem Ave., with Rev. Dr. Lysander Nelms, officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service.
