News Death Notice

TROUP, Jack age 79, died Aug. 4, 2013 after several years of declining health. He was born in Dayton, OH, the son of Joe and Odessa Gerrard Troup. He was a graduate of Miamisburg, OH, class of 1952 and graduate of General Motor Institute in 1956 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He began his career with Frigidaire Division of GM, as a co-op student and ended with Chevrolet, retiring in 1988 after 36 years of service. In his younger years, he belonged to St. James Methodist Church, Central Presbyterian Church, Lamme Rd., West Carrollton, where he served on The Session and sang in the choir. Later, he joined Epiphany Lutheran Church, Centerville. He belonged to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Ft. Myers upon his death. While living in Ohio, Jack was a member of The Engineer's Club of Dayton. Surviving Jack is his wife, Carole Leis Troup, whom he married in 1964 at St. Jacob's Lutheran Church, Miamisburg, OH. After retirement, Jack and Carole moved to Cape Coral, FL, their lifetime dream. Jack loved gardening, boating and fishing, along with Carole. Also surviving are daughters: Joni (David) Troup Amato of Longwood, FL and Lois Troup of Highlands Ranch, CO; sons: Jeffrey Troup of Camas, WA., and Geoffrey (Rachelle) Georgopoulos of Pleasant Plain, OH; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers: Toby (Sandra) Troup, of Miamisburg, OH and Michael (Barbara) Troup of Englewood, FL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by daughter, Jennifer Georgopoulos Lecclier who died in 1980. A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held at 2:00pm, Sat., Aug. 10, 2013 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3950 Winkler Ave. Ext., Ft. Myers, FL with Rev. Nancy Fisher officiating.
