News Death Notice

WALSH, James J. "JJ" 67, of Tipp City died suddenly, while hiking, on December 9, 2013. Born in Newark, NJ on June 17, 1946 to the late James P. Walsh and Mary Jo Conley. Survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Mary Loewke Walsh, four children, Jo (Christopher) Walsh-Cobb; Carolyn (Todd) Wright; Jimmy (Kristina) Walsh; and Mary Kay Walsh, eight grandchildren, Talia, Olivia and Sophia Cobb; Benton and Eiliana Wright; James, Nathan and Jillian Walsh; and two sisters, Patty (Dietz)Vilks and BJ Parrish, and countless family and friends. A fiercely proud Army and Air Force veteran of 28 years, he spent most of his career in intelligence work at NASIC (WPAFB) where he was known for his exuberant personality and work ethic. Jim lived life to the fullest, completing countless marathons, hiking the Grand Canyon and traveling across 5 continents and all 50 states. Jim was passionate about his family, good food, travel, hats, music, history and our National Parks, and he was never happier than on the open road with Mary beside him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, family, service and adventure. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Friday, December 13, 2013 at the TROSTEL, CHAPMAN, DUNBAR & FRALEY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral mass will be 12 noon Saturday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, New Carlisle. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
