News Death Notice

RAY, John Robert Age 92 of Lebanon, passed away Friday, January 10, 2014, at Otterbein Lebanon Senior Lifestyle Community, attended by Otterbein Hospice. He was preceded in death by his wife Mirka Marja Ray in 2012. John was Professor Emeritus of Geography at Wright State University having served the department as its first academic dean under President Brage Golding. He received his B.A. in 1954; M.A. in 1955, Indiana University; and Ph.D. in 1972, The Ohio State University. Dr. Ray was a member of several professional organizations and served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps. during WWII. He and Mirka were advocates and volunteers for seniors throughout their retirement. The Rays had no children. John is survived by brother Bill Ray from Elizabethtown, KY, along with several nieces and nephews.
