News Death Notice

SMITH, Laura Jean age 83, of Dayton, died Wednesday, January 2, 2013. She was born in Shelbyville, KY where she lived until graduating from Centre College, KY. She enlisted in the United States Air Force and continued in the Reserves reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. She is better known locally as a retired librarian, Branch Head of Dayton View Library, head of the Social Science Division at the Main Library, and a graduate of the University of Illinois Library School. Her interests were varied, she loved jazz and classical music, travel, owning a home, and caring for animals both wild domestic. She will be sorely missed by her friends here in Dayton, the extended Pine Family, and her nephew and family in Texas. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home 5555 Philadelphia Dr. by Rev. Bobbie Predmore.
