SNYDER, Margaret Ellen (nee Reid) of Centerville, Ohio, passed away Monday November 11. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Norman Eugene Snyder, and is survived by two sons, Larry and John, of Dayton, Ohio, and by a brother, William Reid, niece Kathi Reid (Everardo Zarate) and grand niece Erika, all of Hamden, Connecticut, and by a cousin Elizabeth Marckel (Ken), of Pickerington, Ohio. Born in Circleville, Ohio in 1923, she was a graduate of London High School, and in 1945 received a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences from The Ohio State University, where she was an Alumni House scholar. She worked at the Shawen Acres facility for children and at Goodwill Industries, prior to marrying and raising her family. She returned to school, and was awarded a Master of Arts in Religious Education from United Theological Seminary (their first) in 1976. She was commissioned a Deaconess and consecrated a Diaconal Minister in the United Methodist Church, serving as Director of Christian Education at Grace United Methodist Church and later at her home church, South Park UMC. She held several offices at the local and district levels of the United Methodist Women, and taught many dozens of classes and short courses, including the UMC's Disciple Bible study series. She served her family, her church and her community in countless ways. She enjoyed reading, and was an accomplished seamstress. She sang in her church choir for many years. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 22, 2013 at South Park United Methodist Church. Friends may greet the family there from 10:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Park UMC, Dayton, Ohio.
