News Death Notice

DAY, Mrs. Mary Thrash born 1920, departed this life December 9, 2013 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She resided at the residence of her daughter, Susan. She was reared in Beinville Parish, Brcyeland Louisiana. She was the eldest of six children to Zebuleon Paul and Mattie Lou Thrash. She started college in 1936 at LSU Northeast Center in Monroe Louisiana, finishing her degrees from Centenary College and Northwestern University in Louisiana. She taught High School English in Caddo Parish and Northwestern University. After retirement she taught adult education classes at Centenary College. While at college she married Mr. James Orvis Day of Monroe, La. in 1938. After WWII they built a home together in Shreveport, LA where they raised their three children. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Orvis, both parents Zebuleon and Mattie Lou Thrash, and one great grandson Zackary. She knows they all wait to reunite with her in heaven. She is survived by daughters, Linda Day of Miamisburg, OH and Susan (Gary) Sussman of Miamisburg, OH; son, Stanley (Anita) Day of Milton, WI; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was a long time Sunday school teacher, avid traveler, quilter, proud D.A.R. member, and loved researching her genealogy. Mary's devotion to the lord has carried her through many good times and bad, and knows she will be in his loving arms for eternity. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.routsong.com
