News Death Notice

ALLEN, Sr., Ronald E. age 97, of Dayton, departed this life June 7, 2014. Born April 15, 1917 in Bluefield, WV and a resident of Dayton since 1937. After serving in the United States Army, WWII 1939-1943, he received an honorable discharge and retired from WPAFB after 40 years of service. A faithful member of Phillips Temple Church since 1946 where he served on the Usher Board, and various other committees. He was involved in the Boy Scouts of America for over 35 years. He was a 32nd Degree Member of the Harmony #77 and Miami Consistory #26. Preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Ruby Elaine Allen; sons, Ronald E. Jr. and Donnie Allen; parents, Rev. Ephraim and Sally E. Demmons Allen; seven brothers and eight sisters. He leaves to cherish his memories his beloved daughter, Brenda Allen of Los Angeles, CA; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a host of special nieces, nephews, many relatives, friends, neighbors and beloved Phillips Temple family. Visitation 4-8 pm Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. Family will receive friends from 6-8 pm. Memorial service conducted by the Masonic Lodge will be held 6:30 pm. Homegoing service will be held 11 am Friday, June 13, 2014 at Phillips Temple Church, 3620 Shiloh Springs Rd. Rev. James Washington officiating. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 10-11 am. Condolences may be expressed at
