ZWELLING, Rabbi Victor David age 76, of Delray Beach, FL., formerly of Dayton, died after a lengthy illness on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Lakeview Care Center. Victor was a graduate of The Ohio State University and received his ordination from The Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He served as a Rabbi in Erie, PA, Waltham, MA, Madison, WI; and Miami, FL., before entering into the family business. During the 1970's he was extremely active on behalf of Soviet Jewry and was sent on a mission by the Israeli government to the former Soviet Union to visit refusniks. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was a lifelong learner of Torah and teacher to countless students. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, Irene & Charles Zwelling; brother, Neil Zwelling. He is survived by his devoted wife, Eleanor (nee Cohen); daughter, Devora (Alan) Sorscher of Chicago, IL; sons, Josh (Deva) Zwelling of Chicago, IL; Avi (Shulie) Zwelling of Boca Raton, FL. Cherished Papa to Lauren, Jennifer, Carly, Jacob, Ariella, Zeke, Jordana, Simona, Binyamin, Aliza, & Doniel. Dear brother of Joel (Dee) Zwelling and Rena (Howard) Beyer. Funeral service will be held 1 PM Tuesday, (TODAY) August 20, 2013 at Beth Abraham Cemetery Chapel, 1817 West Schantz Avenue with Rabbi Joshua Ginsberg officiating. Interment Beth Abraham Cemetery. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Chai Lifeline, Amit, Hospice of Palm Beach County Florida in Victor's memory. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Marker & Heller Funeral Home, North Main Street Chapel.
