SIMPSON, Virginia (Ginny) age 91, of Dayton, Ohio, died December 13, 2013. She had been living for several years at Bethany Lutheran Village, in Centerville, and before that in Oakwood, Ohio. She was born September 10, 1922, to Paul Moore and Philomena Schleutker Moore of Detroit, Michigan. Her younger brother, Marvin Moore of Birmingham, Michigan, survives her. Raised in Detroit, she graduated from Wayne State University. She earned her Masters in Library Science from the University of Chicago. For many years, she served as reference librarian at the Undergraduate Library of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 1945, she married Harold W. Guthrie; they had two sons who survive them, Paul D. Guthrie of Novato, California, and James R. Guthrie of Dayton. Ohio. Her first marriage ended in divorce. Her second marriage was to the late Raymond H. Simpson of Champaign, Illinois. A year living abroad with her young family in Indonesia sparked a lifelong interest in travel, art, music, and all things cultural. Her home was always filled with beautiful books, paintings, music, and brochures for local museums and concerts. Her survivors also include her four grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her Moore nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio, at a future date. Memorials in her name may be made to the Dayton Art Institute, 456 Belmonte Park North, Dayton OH 45405. Arrangements in care of TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME - FAR HILLS CHAPEL.
