Walter David McNabb


Walter David McNabb passed away Friday, February 1, 2013, at Huntsville Hospital after a brief illness. He was born June 21, 1926, in Cullman, Alabama, to Walter and Grace McNabb. He graduated from Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery, Alabama, and Auburn University. A veteran of World War II, he worked for NASA at George C. Marshall Space Flight Center from its inception until his retirement in 1982.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Jo McNabb of Huntsville; daughter, Elizabeth Weinbaum and husband, Joel Weinbaum of Decatur; daughter, Dianne McNabb and husband, Bill Lantz of Atlanta; daughter, Robin McNabb of Huntsville; sisters, Mary Grace Wilson and Dorothy Hughes of Montgomery; brother, Fred McNabb of Guntersville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation for family and friends will be at St. Mark's Lutheran Church on Monday, February 4, at 2 p.m. followed by the service at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery at 4 p.m. Berryhill Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Mark's Lutheran Church.
