Salisbury-Annette H. Embry, formerly of Trappe, Md., passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, in Salisbury. She was 82. Born on July 18, 1931, in Chestertown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Oscar V. Hanson and Laura Nicholson Hanson.
Annette graduated from high school in Chestertown and went on to attend McQueen Gibbs Willis School of Nursing in Easton, where she graduated in 1952. Annette was a nurse at Easton Memorial Hospital for over 50 years. Most of that time was spent on evening or night shift as a nursing supervisor. After retiring in 2007, Annette kept busy by volunteering at the Talbot Historical Society and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Commission Shop, when she wasn't on a bus trip, playing bridge with friends, or visiting with family. She was also a former member of the Ladies of the Elks, Lodge 1622, Easton.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Cindy and David Lawson of Salisbury, Brett Embry of Salisbury and Sandy and Bill James of Royal Oak; five grandchildren, Lee, Bill, Laura, Monte and Chris; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Selma Crowder of Easton. She was predeceased in 1995 by her husband, Charles, whom she married May 1, 1954.
The family would like to offer "special thanks to Sarah, Margaret & Mollie's Assisted Living Facility and the staff members who took such good care of her and helped us through those last days. Kindness, caring, compassion, family, they offered us all of those."
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 20, at noon at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home P.A., 200 S. Harrison St., Easton, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park near Easton.
