Salisbury-Charles Gray Friedel, 90, of Salisbury died on January 6, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born on October 26, 1923 in Bridgeville, DE he was the son of the late James Edward Friedel and Ruth Marie Friedel.
Graduating in 1940 from Seaford High School he went on to attend the University of Delaware for 2 years. He was a Navy Veteran serving during WWII. He worked as a general contractor in Delaware for many years and for the last 30 years he repaired sewing machines for Jenny's Sewing Studio in Salisbury. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Salisbury for many years. He loved making model ships and custom furniture.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Mildred Brown Friedel; daughter, Jennifer Kay Friedel; sons, Gerald Gray Friedel and his wife Susan B. Friedel, James Edward Friedel II; grandchildren, Michael G. Friedel, Laura F. Matney and her husband, Ron, Jason G. Friedel and Andrew J. Friedel; great grandchildren, Joshua Friedel and Nolan Gray Matney and a sister, Janice McWilliams and her husband, Marvel.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 11:00 am at Bethany Lutheran Church in Salisbury. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Kevin Wacket will officiate.
