Clifton H. Dennis, Sr.

Newark-Clifton Henry Dennis, Sr., 71, of here departed this life on Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in Newark, he was the son of the late William H. Dennis and Sarah J. Spence Dennis.

He served in the United States Army. Prior to retiring, he was employed by Ralph L. Mason as a Mechanic and Supervisor.

Mr. Dennis was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church where he served as a Lay Leader and member of the Methodist Men and Men's Choir. He was also a member of the American Legion Duncan Showell Post #145 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #10159. Mr. Dennis was a former member of the Booker T. Washington Lodge #87 F. & A.M.

He will be lovingly remembered by: his wife, Rosie E. Dennis; one son, Clifton H. Dennis, Jr. (Tron); two daughters, Lolita A. Dennis and Felicia J. Dennis-Green (James); one sister, Marian Mae Dennis; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, James I. Dennis, Gordon D. Dennis, and Arlester A. Dennis, and one sister, Betty Ann Johnson.

Mr. Dennis will lie in repose on Friday from 6 to 8 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church, 8607 Ironshire Station Road, Berlin, and Saturday from 10 to 11 AM at First Baptist Church, 528 Booth Street and Delaware Avenue, Salisbury. On Friday, the American Legion Duncan Showell Post #145 will perform ceremonial rites at 7 PM. On Saturday, the funeral service will begin at 11 AM. Rev. Dr. Helen B. Lockwood will officiate. Rev. Dr. Lewis N. Watson is the Host Pastor. Interment will be held on Tuesday at 2 PM at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery - Eastern Shore, 6827 East New Market Ellwood Road, Hurlock.
