LAUREL—Donald M. Brumbley, 80, of Laurel, Del., went to be with the Lord Friday, June 28, 2013. He passed away at the Christiana Hospital in Wilmington. Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Romie Brumbley and Mildred C. Dryden.
Donald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Shoreland Freezers, and the Acme Market for 32 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Laurel. Donald enjoyed raising goats and honeybees, chickens, woodworking and building various crafts. He had a wonderful garden full of delicious produce and beautiful flowers.
Mr. Brumbley is survived by his sons, Timothy Hastings and Mark Hastings and his wife, Lora, all of Laurel; his daughters, Beth Ellen Workman of Georgetown and Donna Faye Mercer of Salisbury; a daughter-in-law, Jean Brumbley; his brothers, Roland Brumbley and Wayne Brumbley; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Jeanette Brumbley, who passed in 2012; three sons, Clark Brumbley, David Hastings and Stephen Hastings; and a sister, Margaret Davis.
A funeral service will be held in the Elliott Building at Trinity United Methodist Church on Phillips Hill Road in Laurel on Wednesday, July 3, at 2 pm. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Julie Lewis will officiate. Interment will follow in Trinity Cemetery.
