Edwin F. Cade, Sr.

Delmar-Edwin Frederick Cade, Sr., 85, of Delmar, Delaware, beloved husband of Margaret Lord Cade for 60 years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 18, 2014.

Edwin was born and raised in Greenwood, Delaware and graduated from Greenwood High School in 1947. He went to work for the Diamond State Telephone Company until 1950, when he was called to duty in the United States Army to serve in the Korean Conflict. During his 15 month tour in Korea, Edwin earned the rank of Sgt. First Class and was honorably discharged after nearly two years of service.

Upon his return to the United States, he went back to work at the new Bell Atlantic Telephone Company as a lineman until he retired after 44 years of service. During his retirement he also worked at his son-in-law's business, Tim's Aerial Service.

As a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars since 1952, he had the honor of serving as the youngest Post Commander from 1960 to 1961, in Seaford, Delaware.

Having played baseball and basketball in high school and softball in the Army, Edwin participated in the City of Seaford fast pitch softball league until he was 40 years old.

Edwin was a devout Christian and since his baptism into Christ 37 years ago, he helped build four new Churches of Christ/Christian Churches on the Eastern Shore. He also worked on the construction of Delmarva Christian Service Camp at Trap Pond, Delaware. He served as an Elder at the Old Paths Church of Christ in Georgetown, Delaware and has been a faithful servant at the Gateway Church of Christ near Mardela Springs, Maryland for the past 15 years.

His greatest desire was that others would come to know the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ through repentance, confession, baptism and living a faithful life.
