SALISBURY — Elaine Elizabeth Kraus Kambarn of Salisbury died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Born on Aug. 13, 1929, in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Dr. Louis Henry Kraus Sr. and Pauline L. Zimmerman Kraus. Mrs. Kambarn was a graduate of Wicomico High School and after marrying her late husband, she was a homemaker.
Elaine was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Salisbury. She was active in Boy Scouting for more than 21 years and received the Silver Beaver Award. When her children were younger, she was very active in the Fruitland School as homeroom mother. Other organizations she was involved in include Wicomico Women's Jr. Club, Apple Dumpling Gang at her church, past president of Shad Point Homemaker's Club, Aquacare, Bridge Club, 54 year member of the Salisbury Elks Club, assisted in the Farm and Home Show receiving many ribbons. She had a love for sports, which included playing fast pitch softball (she was a pitcher for the Benjamin's and Hess Apparel teams), bowling, but her favorite hobby was watching the Baltimore Orioles. Elaine and her late husband were instrumental in the development of the Duck Crossing Subdivision in Salisbury.
She is survived by her children, Steven A. Kambarn and his wife, Rebecca, and Cynthia K. Taylor and her husband, Dale, all of Salisbury; grandchildren, Katharine Mitchell and her husband, Jason, of Princess Anne, Carrie Kambarn of Salisbury and Julie Hickman and her husband, Jeff, of Salisbury; great-grandson, Lucas Hickman of Salisbury; and a sister, Pauline Parsons and her husband, Frank, of Salisbury, their children, Lynn Parsons, Frankie Parsons, all of Salisbury, and her goddaughter, Lori Nichols and her husband, Bobby, and their children, Crystal and Robbie of Delmar, Ann Wells and her husband, Kirby, and their children, Betsy and Michael of Hebron, Charles and Tori Kraus and their children, Jessica and her husband, Matt, and Dana, all of Ellicott City, Md.; and a very special friend, Pat Banks of Salisbury.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harry A. Kambarn and her brothers, Paul Kraus, Louis Henry Kraus Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth W. Kraus.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Kevin Wackett will officiate. Interment will be in Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
