Salisbury-Elder Donald Levi Dennis, 64, of here, departed this life on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center. Born in Girdletree, he was the son of Ruth M. Dennis of Girdletree and the late Vaughn W. Dennis, Sr.
He was a member of Weeping Mary Full Gospel Baptist Church, in Salisbury, where he served as Treasurer, Worship Team Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Pastor of the Men, and choir member.
Elder Dennis served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and was employed by Delmarva Power in Salisbury as a Trouble Serviceman.
In addition to his mother, loving memories will be cherished by: his wife, Doretha "Deary" Dennis of Salisbury; two sons, Christopher (Amy) Dennis of Englewood, CO and Justin D. Lyde of Philadelphia, PA; one godson, Derrick (Tonya) Thompson of Cambridge; two goddaughters, Phyllicia D. Ennis and Hope A. Fields, both of Salisbury; two sisters, Portia (Donald) Copper of Virginia Beach, VA and Malissa T. Dennis of Girdletree; three aunts, Viola Hughes of Hurlock, Elsie Truitt and Mable Townsend, both of Snow Hill; four grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other in-laws, relatives, and friends.
In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by four siblings.
Elder Dennis will lie in repose on Friday from 6 to 8 PM and Saturday from 11 AM to 12 PM at Mt. Enoch Holy Church located on 28055 Rockawalkin Ridge Road in Salisbury. The funeral service will begin at 12 PM. Rev. Dr. Henry Brown will be the Eulogist and Bishop Paul Harmon will be the Officiant. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Park, Inc. located on West Road in Salisbury. A ministry of comfort and dignity is being provided by Lewis N. Watson Funeral Home, PA in Salisbury.
