Frederick A. Maier

Bradenton, Fla.-Frederick A. Maier, Lieutenant USCG, formerly of Salisbury and Ocean City, died in Bradenton on Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, after a short illness. Born the son of Anton and Margaret Maier in Queens, N.Y., on Nov. 1, 1916, he was 97.

He served on anti-submarine duty in the North Atlantic during WWII. Fred loved to travel and square dance. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Jodi.

He is survived by his sister, Mildred Zabawa; son, David and his wife, Connie; grandchildren Mark, Marita, Renae and Sherri; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Lauren, Kayla, Victor, Natalie and Conner; great-great-grandchild, Bentley; and nieces Lynn and Beverly.

Military Internment services are scheduled for Sept. 26 at the Sarasota National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
