Salisbury-James Albert Boston, Jr.,81, of Salisbury died Monday, October 14, 2013 at his home after a long struggle with respiratory and kidney disease. Born December 11, 1931, in Salisbury he was the son of the late James Albert Boston, Sr. and Thelma LeCates Boston.
Mr. Boston was a United States Korean War Army Veteran serving in the 187th Airborn Region (Combat)/ Rakkasan / 82nd Airborne Division. He was also in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a member of the East Side Mens Club, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge Post 654, American Legion Post #64, Elks Lodge Delaware, and a lifetime member of the VFW Meuse Post 194 and Redman Lodge Tony Tank Tribe #149. A 32nd degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Boumi Shrine, Mr. Boston was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #91. He continued to volunteer his services by transporting veterans to the VA Hospital and Perry Point. Mr. Boston worked for J.I. Wells for 10 years and retired from Preston Trucking Company in 1996 after working as a truck driver for 32 years and earning three separate Million Mile safe driving awards. He was part of the founding of one of the first "Delmarva Skydivers" on the Eastern Shore. He enjoyed life and was a friend to everyone he met. He will be missed by all.
He is survived by a daughter, Patricia Anne White and her husband Rex White, Sr. of Eden; three grandchildren, Rex White, Jr. and his significant other Crystal Horner, Duane White and his wife Karen, and Tonya White Thomas and her husband Michael; great-grandchildren, Kevin White, Kylie Thomas, Chad White, Jaylin Thomas, Olivia White, and Raeven Thomas; four sisters, Faye Beachamp, Norma Lee Young, Betty Phippin, and Juanita Messick; and several nieces, nephews, and brother-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Joelene Willey Boston in 2002; a sister, Rofelda Elliott; and two brothers, Vernon and Eugene Boston.
A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 AM at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury. Interment will follow in Allen Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6PM-8PM at the funeral home.
