Pocomoke City-Jeffrey Russell Trader, 62 of Pocomoke City, Maryland died on Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland.

Born, August 14, 1951 in Salisbury, Maryland, he was the son of Jeff D. Trader, Jr. of Pocomoke City, Maryland and Shelley Marriner Trader Wilson and her husband Elmer of Harbeson, Delaware.

A 1969 graduate of Pocomoke High School, he went on to earn an associate's degree from Chowan University in Murfreesboro, NC. Mr. Trader served in the Maryland State Police for 15 years before transferring to E.C.I. as a guard for 5 years, retiring in 1994 with a total of 20 years service for the State of Maryland. He also worked on the water with his grandfather Russell Marriner and Bo Bennum at George Island and helped his grandfather, Jeff Trader, Sr. in his Pocomoke City gun business.

Jeffrey was a hard worker who enjoyed life, had accepted the Lord as his savior and had many good dependable friends. He was a member of Pocomoke City Elks Lodge #1624, where he volunteered and worked part time, talking to old friends and making new ones. He and his father were also known for their "double dating", exploring the Eastern Shore eateries with Ruth and Janet. An avid golfer, he also shot skeet and trap, and enjoyed traveling and fishing with his father. He valiantly fought his cancer at Johns Hopkins, P.R.M.C. and the Deer's Head Center and was able to fulfill his wish of returning home just prior to his death.

He will be dearly missed by his mother, father, special devoted friend, Ruth Potvin and her son, Robert Potvin, his father's "double date partner" Janet Gibbons, his two dogs "Fairway" and "Shelby" and many others who helped him and encouraged him throughout his battle with cancer.

A funeral service, officiated by Pastor Paul Elligson, will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at the Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke City, where family and friends will gather for a visitation Thursday from 6-8 PM, with and Elk's Memorial Service at 7:45 PM and a one hour viewing prior to the Friday service. Interment will follow be in First Baptist Church Cemetery, Pocomoke City, MD.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Pocomoke Elks Lodge #1624, 1944 Worcester Highway, Pocomoke City, MD 21851.
