Salisbury-On Friday, March 14, 2014, God and Laura concluded that after 95 years it was time for her to go, so she went - from Coastal Hospice at the Lake. Born in Parsonsburg, she was the daughter of the late Laird W. Parsons and Carrie Bailey Parsons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Olin Theodore Elzey Sr., in 1996.
She is survived by five children, Ted Elzey Jr. and his wife, Ruth, of Brookfield, Vt., Phil Elzey and his wife, Roberta, of Lilburn, Ga., Joanie Doe and her husband, Steve, of Fredericksburg, Va., Patti Brandt and her husband, Rick of Brookfield and Diane Brittingham of Hagerstown, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren, with two expected this year.
She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was an elementary school teacher for the Wicomico County Board of Education. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting, her gardens and her birds and her family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury, with the Rev. George Patterson officiating. There will be a visitation Tuesday evening from 5-7 at Holloway Funeral Home. Interment will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Jerusalem Cemetery in Parsonsburg.
