Marion Station-Dr. Lloyd H. Stevens, 93, of Marion Station, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center.
Born in Frostburg, Maryland on March 2, 1921, he was the son of the late Lloyd L. and Helen Boettner Stevens. His beloved wife of 63 years, Elizabeth "Bette" Gilbert Stevens died March 5, 2012.
A graduate of Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Dr. Stevens worked 33 years as an optometrist working for himself and later retired from Accurate Optical in 1986.
He was a US Army Air Force veteran of World War II serving in the 434th Squadron of the 12th Bomb Group in North Africa. He held memberships with Asbury United Methodist Church, Chesapeake Masonic Lodge #147 AF&AM, Shriners International, the former Crisfield Kiwanis Club, Crisfield Coast Guard Auxiliary, served on the Somerset County Library Board, and was a former member and past president of the McCready Foundation Board of Directors. He was also an Eagle Scout.
Dr. Stevens had a great interest in airplanes and aviation, he enjoyed fishing, and loved spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He is survived by a daughter, Gail Massey and husband Dean of Crisfield; a son, Craig Stevens and wife Cindy of Marion Station; and five grandchildren, Steven Massey and wife Valerie, Brian Stevens and wife Lindsay, Brady Stevens, Neil Stevens, and Kate Stevens; two great-grandsons, Alexander and Orion Massey; and two great-granddaughters, Ava and Aubrey Stevens.
Memorial services with military honors will be held Sunday, June 8, 2014 at 3 PM at Asbury United Methodist Church in Crisfield. Rev. Todd Hurley will officiate.
