Mildred H. Dykes

Crisfield-Mildred H. Dykes, 88, of Crisfield, died on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake in Salisbury.

Born in Kingston March 2, 1926, she was the daughter of the late William Craft Hayman and Mabel Derby Hayman. Her husband, William E. Dykes, Jr. died July 25, 2002. She was a graduate of Salisbury State College (Salisbury University) and was a Somerset County School Teacher retiring after 18 years of service.

She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Kingston and attended the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Crisfield. She was a member of the McCready Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board and the AARP Crisfield Chapter. She loved playing bridge and loved being with her family and friends.

Surviving is a son, William E. "Bill" Dykes, III and wife Kathy of Fruitland, a daughter, Ann Dykes Vipperman and husband Rick of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Ross Hendrix, Mark Hendrix, Tara Dykes, and Jessica Herndon; great-grandchildren, Emma, Ella, Will, Jack, Maggie, Tate, and Reese.

Besides her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Hayman, and sisters, Kathryn Fritz and Doris Figgs.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Immanuel United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Paul Holland will officiate. Interment will be in Sunnyridge Memorial Park.
