YORK, PA-Robert L. Holtzinger, 92, of York, PA, formerly of Berlin, MD, died at 8:55 a.m. Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at his home. He was the husband of the late Betty J. (Barrick) Holtzinger.
Born October 4, 1921 in Red Lion, PA son of the late George H. and Henrietta (Frey) Holtzinger, he was a master electrician with IBEW Local #229, working for 32 years at Jno. Z. Barton, Inc. and prior to that with Stuart Schaeffer Electric in Red Lion. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII with the Army Corps of Engineers, 83rd Inf., Div., 308th Batt. in the European Theater and a member of American Legion Post #123 and Stevenson UM Church both in Berlin, MD.
Mr. Holtzinger is survived by a daughter, Barbara E. McCubbin of York; four grandsons, William E. Randle and wife Carol, Troy S. Randle and wife Arlene, Patrick M. McCubbin and wife Jennifer and Terry A. McCubbin and wife Heather; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Norma Messman of York and Floss Ness of Dallastown. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Connie L. Wagner; two sisters, Ruth Cantrell and Lerlene Holtzinger; and two brothers, Nevin and Zane Richard Holtzinger.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 13th at Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, Inc., 849 E. Market St., York with his pastor, the Rev. Jay A. Hurley, officiating. Viewing will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Rose Cemetery with full military honors given by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
