SALISBURY—Dr. Samuel A Leishear II, 98, of Salisbury died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Salisbury Nursing Home, Salisbury. Born Aug, 21, 1914m in Washington D,C,, he was the son of the late William W. Leishear and Meda Mitchell Leishear.
He is survived by his two sons, Samuel A. Leishear III and Gerald W. Leishear.
A retired dentist and World War II veteran, who had numerous awards and service while living in the Washington area, he had been a resident of the Mallard Landing Community of Salisbury since 2001. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Esther Marie Leishear, who was 92 at her passing, and his sister, Virginia Donaldson, also of Mallard Landing, who was 97 at her passing in December 2012.
A devout and energetic Christian, his earthly accomplishments are too numerous to expound upon. His heavenly reward has been attained. However, those who knew him best found him to be a fun loving, energetic, interesting and caring person, who would love to tell you a joke or just stop and talk. He was a person who enjoyed the company of others, and enjoyed the challenge of organizing a Bocce tournament or getting a Derby party together.
In addition to his two sons, he is survived by four grandchildren, Mark Leishear of Milton, Katie Leishear, of Baltimore, Kyle Leishear of Quakertown Pa., and Kelly Pressey of Buena Vista, Ga. He also has four great-grandchildren, Bella Leishear, Liam Leishear, Connor Leishear, and Ashley Leishear.
A private graveside interment ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Mallard Landing Retirement Community on South Schumaker Drive at the Commons at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20. .
The family requests that no flowers be sent, but that donations be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 112 High St., Salisbury, Md. 21801.
