Vernon Frank Coty

Salisbury-Vernon Frank Coty, 91, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota he was the son of the late George and Clair Breest Coty.

Dr. Coty worked for more than 30 years for Mobil Oil Corporation Research and Development as a microbiologist. He was an undergraduate of St Thomas University, Marquette University (Masters) and Purdue University (Phd). Upon early retirement he taught at Delaware County Community College. He was a World War II Army veteran of the Signal Corps.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 yrs Phyllis Coty; children, Michael, Patrick and his wife, Mary Ann, Thomas and his wife, Nancy, James, Mary, Diana and her husband, Dr. Bill Todd; grandchildren, Kirsten, Sean, Jared, Rachel, Dana, Emily and Will Todd and Amy Dietz and her husband, Paul; great grandchild Ava Dietz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline Coty.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 4, 2014 at 11 am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Salisbury. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
