William Henry Deckert, III

Salisbury-William Henry Deckert, III, 69, of Salisbury, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at his residence. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of the late William Henry Deckert, Jr. and Audrey Esther Dietrich Deckert.

Bill was a US Navy Vietnam veteran and a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church, Bethesda Kindred Group, and Wicomico Lodge 91 where he was currently serving as secretary. He worked in banking for over 40 years. He enjoyed computers, gardening, fishing, kayaking and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Mary Lynn Engelbrecht Deckert; daughters, Rebecca App and her husband, Eric of Glen Allen, VA and Emily Rosengren of Milford, DE; 5 grandchildren, Shawn Michael Rosengren, Nathan Taylor Rosengren, Kathryn Engelbrecht App, Maximilian Vanderwende App and Henry Deckert App; a sister in law, Dr. Helen Ownby and her husband, Dr. Dennis Ownby of St. Mary's, GA; a nephew, Dr. David Ownby and his wife, Stacy of Reisterstown; and a niece, Kathryn Ownby, currently teaching in Taiwan.

A Masonic service will begin at 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Bethesda United Methodist Church in Salisbury with a visitation one hour prior. Rev. Rob Townsend will officiate with interment following at Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Bethesda United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, 406 N. Division St., Salisbury, MD 21801.
