SALISBURY-William Goldsborough Rayfield, 89, of Salisbury passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at his residence. Born in Crisfield, he was the son of the late Clifton Rayfield and Audrey Goldsborough Rayfield.
William was a US Navy World War II veteran and a 58-year lifetime member of Elks Lodge 817, VFW Post 194 and also a member of Tony Tank Red Men's Lodge 149 and Moose Lodge 654. He was the owner of William G. Rayfield Inc., real estate broker and appraiser, for over 60 years, retiring in 2013. He enjoyed boating and fishing and spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Marie Prevette Rayfield; four sons, David Rayfield and wife, Sue, of Ocean City, Gregory Wright and wife, Lisa, of Salisbury, Dana Wright and wife, Hillary, of Willards and Martin Wright and wife, Pam, of Parsonsburg; four daughters, Beverly Mapp and husband, Barry, of Harrington, Sandra Wright of Salisbury, Linda Skewes and husband, Ed, of Manassas, Va., and Audrey Rayfield and husband, John Stush, of Frederick, Md.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Rayfield, and a granddaughter, Carrie Rebecca Wright Smoot.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, with a visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Parsons Cemetery in Salisbury.
