Alan V. Dougherty

Alan V. Dougherty, 72, of Landenberg, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013.

Alan served in the United States Marine Corp. He retired in 1999 from Bell Atlantic/Diamond State Telephone Company after 38 years of service.

Alan had a passion for cooking, gardening and loved Flyers Hockey. Alan coached the Salesianum Chiefs Ice Hockey Team from 1980 to 1981. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing and boating. He was a member of the Pennsylvania Bow Hunters Association, and Delaware County Field and Stream. He was also a breeder and showed German short hair pointers.

He is survived by his wife Cathy Duffy Dougherty with whom he was married to for 51 years; son William Dougherty (Andrea) of Lancaster, PA ; daughter, Alexandria "Ali" Barbato (John)of Lewes, DE; brother, Terry Dougherty (Janet); grandchildren, Nicholas, Jake, Ben, Vance and Addison.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 12th at 2:00pm at Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Pike Creek, where family and friends may visit from 1:00 to 2:00pm. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Alan to the Center for the Inland Bays, 39375 Inlet Rd., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.
