Anthony, age 95 of Wilmington, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 7, 2013.
Anthony was born in Wilmington on October 22, 1917, son of the late Arpino and Rosina (Cascioli) Pedicone. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served his country with honor and valor during WWII. He went on to a lengthy and skillful career as a builder/carpenter, having belonged to the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and providing over 50 years of service to Earnest DiSabatino until retirement. Anthony also enjoyed membership with the Prince of Piedmont O.S.I.A. Lodge in Wilmington. Above all things, he was endlessly devoted to his family and possessed the deepest adoration for loved ones.
Anthony is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Jennie (Pellegrino) Pedicone; daughter, Judith (Pedicone) Lewandowski; grandchildren, Lisa and Brian Lagerence, Francis Lewandowski, and Christine and Shawn Sheehan; great-grandchildren, Shawn, Kathleen, and Ashley Carpenter, Sydney, Cole, and Ryley Sheehan; and Douglas and Danielle Lagerence; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph, Domenick, and John Pedicone; sisters, Geraldine DiSanto, Mary Calilli, Jenny Pedicone; and Rita Benicoso; son-in-law, Francis Lewandowski; and great-grandson, Damon Lewandowski.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Renee and Jean of Delaware Hospice for their attentive and compassionate care of Anthony.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Sts. in Wilmington, on Thursday morning, September 12 at 11am. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday morning, prior to mass, from 9:30-10:45am.
