Bernard A. Limpert "Bernie"

Bernard A. (Bernie) Limpert, 90, of Landenberg, PA, died June 9, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Newark, NJ, on June 8, 1923, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, receiving his honorable discharge in April, 1946 as a pharmacist mate. In 1950, he received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Tennessee Polytechnic Institute. For graduate study, he attended the University of Kentucky, where he met his future wife, Sarah Ruth Heaton. They married in Middlesboro, KY April 15, 1953. Mr. Limpert joined the Engineering Department of the DuPont Company in 1952, spending his career in the Design Division. In April 1985 he retired from DuPont as a Supervising Designer in Power, Heating and Ventilation following 33 years of service to the company.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sarah Heaton Limpert, and by daughter Nancy (Rohr) of Bear, DE and two sons, Bernard C. (Chuck) of Magnolia, DE and George H. of West Chester, PA, and by daughters-in-law, Lyn (Engleson) of Magnolia and Amanda (Kephart) of West Chester. "PopPop" was immensely proud of his five grandchildren, Dana, Leah, Samuel, Steven and Sharon and was delighted they lived nearby. His children and grandchildren cherish memories of his wonderful sense of humor, and hold an ongoing appreciation for his deep investment in their lives.

Mr. Limpert was a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon, Pi Tau Sigma, and a Life Associate member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He enjoyed his involvement with his children's interests, travel trailer camping, Boy Scouts, ballroom dancing and social events at the DuPont Country Club.

The family will receive visitors at Mealey Funeral Home at Limestone and Milltown Roads, Wilmington DE on Sunday, June 16th between 1 PM to 2:30 PM when services will commence. Burial will be private at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Disabled American Veterans, 1601 Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805.
