Charles R. Draper
Formerly of Wilmington, DE and Northeast, MD, died peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Emeritus at White Chapel, Newark, DE. He was 84 years old. Charles was born and raised in Wilmington, DE.
He was 1947 graduate of PS DuPont High School. He served as a Corporal in the US Army at Ft. Dix, NJ, served in the Delaware Army National Guard and was a long time member of the Order of Masons. After high school, he began his working career at Acme Markets, where he worked for 46 years. Upon retiring from Acme Markets, he worked for Christiana School District as a bus driver for 20 years. Charles enjoyed building, traveling and gardening.
Charles was pre-deceased by Beatrice E Hart, his wife of 50 years, his daughter, Alana Lewis, his brother, Robert S. Draper, his parents Roy M Draper and Marietta Staats Draper; and his 2nd wife, Doris Savage Draper. He is survived by his children, Mary E Blythe (Don), Kay E Arnett (Arnie), Roy M Draper (Ann) and Charles (Rusty) Draper, Jr. (Vera), eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will held Wednesday Nov. 6 at 10 am at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7-9 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.
