Daniel O Brown

AGE: 84 •

Daniel Odele Brown, age 84, of Bear, DE formerly of Claymont went home to be with the Lord on July 19 at Christiana Hospital after battling Kidney disease, Cancer and recently a stroke.

He was born in 1930. Dan was the son of George Washington Thomas Brown and Ida (Ragland) Brown. He attended Eddystone High School in Eddystone, PA. He was a veteran of the Army where he served in the Korean War. He had various jobs growing up in Chester and Trainor, Pennsylvania until he found his niche for driving tractor trailers. He retired from General Chemical after 20 years of hauling hazardous materials. After retirement, Dan and Ethel spent the last 22 years traveling the country with their truck and fifth wheel enjoying the beautiful sights. They wintered in Mission, Texas. The family would like to thank Churchmans Village, Fresenius Medical Center of Fox Run, Christiana Hospital, Broadmeadow Rehab Center, Bayada Home Health and all the nurses and aides who took care of him.

Dan is survived by his wife, Ethel M. (Simmons) whom he was married to for 62 years; his three children, Daniel T. (Debbie) of Garnet Valley, James R. (Elisa) of Landenberg and Rhonda L. Cave (Jeff) of Bear; 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. He is also survived by one brother Clark. He was preceded in by his parents and 5 brothers and 2 sisters, Nathan, Jerome, Thomas, Rachel, Benneville, Elias and Maryann.

Funeral Services will be celebrated on Friday, August 1 at 11:30 am at Beeson Funeral Home 2053 Pulaski Hwy, Newark, DE, Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery following the service. A. Visitation will be held on Thursday July 31 from 6-8pm at the funeral home.
