Grant Sexton, age 88, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 31, 2014.
Born in Lansing, NC, he was the son of the late Dalton B. and Maude D. (Ring) Sexton. Grant served his country as shore patrol with the US Navy during WWII while traveling the world. He worked for General Motors, retiring after 36 years of service. Grant was an avid sports fan, especially the Yankees and Phillies. He was a long time member of Crestmoor Swim Club and enjoyed gardening. Grant was a unique and kind man who never thought twice about helping out his family, friends, and even strangers.
Grant will be dearly missed by his daughters, Katherine Watson of Groves, TX, Deborah A. Washinger (Dan) of Lancaster, PA, and Lisa I. Sexton (Jay) of Wilmington, DE; granddaughter, Dakota I. Washinger; brothers, Herbert (Mary), Curtis (Lucille), and Thomas Sexton; sisters-in-law, Carol, and Barbara Sexton; his best buddy, Ullyee; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Blaine, Warren, and Coolidge Sexton; grandson, Jason L. Watson; and his sister-in-law, Alma Sexton.
A visitation will be held from 2-3 PM on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 701 S. Maryland Ave., Wilmington, DE 19804 followed by a memorial service in celebration of Grant's life at 3 PM.
