James A. Dolan, Sr., age 86, of Hurlock, MD, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. James graduated from Brown Vocational High School and proudly served our country in the US Navy during WW II. He founded the Capitol Trail Little League Football Organization in 1960. A machinist tool and die maker, James served his apprenticeship at DuPont Wilmington Shops and worked for Haveg. He owned and operated Anchor Machine. James was an avid photographer and hiker who enjoyed visiting his cabin in WV. He was an environmental activist and inventor. James cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
James is survived by his wife Gloria Dolan; 2 sons, James Dolan, Jr. (Sandy) and Joshua Dolan; 5 daughters: Kathleen Dolan McNeil (Don), Connie Ann Dolan Floyd, Patti Lee (Jim), Colleen Corkery (Chris), and Barbara Dolan; brother, William Dolan (Beatrice); 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Betty Jane Dolan; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Alma Dolan; brother, John Dolan; and 2 sisters, Anne Dolan and Frances Reynolds.
A visitation will be held Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM in the Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans, Rd., Newark, DE 19702 followed by a service in celebration of James's life at 12:30 PM.
