Lt. Col. (retired) James N. Hudson

Age 70, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 at Millcroft Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.

A Delaware native, James was the son of the late Calvin Norwood and Doris Mae (Forsythe) . He was a 1961 graduate of Conrad High School and a 1996 graduate of Wilmington University. He served his country proudly as a Sergeant in the US Marine Corps for 6 years and was a member of The Army National Guard where he retired after 22 years with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 451 and was employed as a Millwright for General Motors Local 453 for 24 years retiring in April 2009. Previously, he owned Hudson Transfer a local moving company. James was a 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of Nur Temple, Delaware Consistory, Gunning Bedford Council #1, St. John's Chapter #4, Shrine Club of Delaware, Armstrong Lodge No. 26 AF&AM, St. John's Commandery No. 1, Brandywine Forrest No. 20, Tall Cedars, Scottish Rite and Shriner's . He also was a former member of Richardson Park United Methodist Church.

James will be dearly missed by his wife of 42 years, Patricia A. (Sieracki); his daughter, Kami; and his son, Jay, all of Wilmington. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren, Kelsie Lynn, Madysen Nicole, Lilyanna Marie and Abigail Jean.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at both the Helen Graham Cancer Center and Dr. Jamal Misleh's office and the staff and nurses at Millcroft Nursing Home for their professional and compassionate care.

Friends and family are invited to a visitation between 6 and 9 PM on Tuesday, July 2nd at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 3rd at 11 AM. Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Helen Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
