John Edward Love

Age 71, of New Castle, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 in the Richmond Virginia VA Hospital surrounded by his loved ones.
Mr. Love proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was a founding member and Executive Vice-President of Colonial PVA and was passionate with his work for others with disabilities. He was involved in passing legislation for people with special parking needs, allowing service pets to accompany them in public places, and seeing that proper care was given where it was needed. John received his service dog from CPL. He was a member of the Moose Club for many years and enjoyed attending the dances. John also enjoyed fishing with his friend, Jim, watching wrestling, bowling, NASCAR; and was an avid CB Radio Operator with the handle "Big John". He never allowed his disability to interfere with all of his passion and drive for life and others.
John is survived by his nephew, Joe Michael, who lived with him; brother, Jim Love and special friend Lucy, and adopted brother, James Webb; sister, Alice Michael and husband Joe of Rock Stream, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as great-great nieces and nephews . He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Dora Love; and brother, Clarence "Red Devil"; his longtime companion and friend jean Romano.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, 635 Churchmans Road, Newark, DE 19702 from 6pm-8pm and again on Tuesday in the funeral home from 10am-11am followed by a service in celebration of John's life at 11am. Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Colonial Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Inc., 356 E. Main Street, Ste. 103, Newark, DE 19711.
