Joseph E. Baggs

Age 84, of Wilmington, DE, passed away at Christiana Hospital on Monday, June 17, 2013.

Born in New Castle, DE, Joe was the son of the late Oliver and Anna (Barlow) Baggs and a graduate of Wilmington High School. He served his country proudly in the US Navy during the Korean War. For 35 years, he worked as an electrician for the DuPont Company, retiring in 1993.

Joe was a member of St. John the Beloved Church and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus-St. John the Beloved Council, where he achieved the 4th Degree. He was extremely active in the events at the church, especially the Pancake Breakfast, Breakfast of Champions, and Blue Mass. He enjoyed ballroom dancing and was a member of the Alley Cats. His other interests included woodworking, the beach, boating, fishing and crabbing. Joe was predeceased by his beloved wife, Agnes M. (Strupczewski) Baggs in 2007.

He loved his family and was proud of his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Steve Dawson of Yorklyn, DE, Caroline and Bob Budynkiewicz of Newark, DE and Deborah and Anthony Setting of Hockessin, DE; six grandchildren, Stephen Dawson, Michael and wife Raimy Dawson, R.J. Budynkiewicz, Kyle Budynkiewicz, Tony Setting, Meghan and husband Kristopher Behm; and a great granddaughter, Rosemary Agnes Behm.

Friends and family are invited to visitation on Saturday, June 22nd from 8:30 to 10 AM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 AM at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, DE 19808. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Knights of Columbus-St. John the Beloved Council at the church address above.
