Joseph E. Napolski

Joseph E. Napolski, age 71, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2013.

Born and raised in Wilmington, Joe was a graduate of Salesianum High School Class of 1960. In 1962, he entered the U.S. Air Force, where he was a Communications Specialist stationed in Germany. Following his service in the U.S. Air Force, Joe had experience in many areas with the various jobs he held through the years. In 1998, he retired from the University of Delaware Athletic Department after fifteen years. Joe was a member of Ogletown Baptist church, as well as a proud member of the N.R.A.

His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, who will greatly miss his wonderful story telling. Joe loved cooking, baking and entertaining for family and friends. For many years, he was a Ham Radio Operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed stamp collecting, photography, model trains and radio controlled airplanes.

Joe is survived by his wife of 29 years, Joan Seaman Napolski; his children, Susan League, Deborah (Patrick) McGuckin, David (Linda) Seaman and Penny (Wayne) Meyer; his sister, Florence (the late Bill) Kibler and his brother, Edward (the late Christine) Napolski. He was a loving Pop-Pop to 14 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, as well as a devoted master to his beloved dog, Katie. Joe was predeceased by his son, David Napolski.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at 10 to 11 A.M. in the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808, where a funeral service will begin at 11 A.M. Interment will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, Newark, DE 19711. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Delaware Hospice for the compassionate care they gave Joe and his family during his illness, both with their In-Home Care, as well as his care at their Center in Milford.
