Joseph Richard Kuhn passed away peacefully at his home on November 17, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Joseph and Elsie Kuhn. He attended Baldwin High School and IBM school in Pittsburgh. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of the Delaware Veterans Club Post #1 for 40 years. Directly after the Marine Corps, he worked in the steel mills in Pittsburgh and was a member of the United Steel Workers Union of America.
He started his career with Borden Foods in 1962, then Norwich Pharmaceuticals. He retired with Procter and Gamble as their Product Account Manager. He was an avid fan of the Eagles and Phillies and enjoyed being a member of the billiards league at the Delaware Veterans Club. He enjoyed coaching baseball for Naamans Little League in the 70's and being a mentor for sports for many kids. He had a passion for nice cars and working on his beautiful landscaped yard.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen of 53 years and 4 children, Michael and wife Jo Michelle, Beverly and husband Christopher, Gary and wife Tracy, Timothy and wife Tara. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Jessica, Victoria, Chase, Madison, Jaclyn, Kristina, Justin and Ryan, his sister Carol and husband Bob, brother-in-law James Rowan and wife Cindy, a nephew and many nieces. He will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends. The family would like to graciously thank the wonderful staff at Compassionate Care Hospice.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday November 23, 2013 at 10:30 am at the Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington, DE 19810. A viewing will be held at CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike on Friday November 22, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Rd., Newark, DE 19713.
