Kathleen Mary Hill
Mrs. Kathleen Mary Hill, age 92, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on her birthday, Sunday, April 29, 2012.
Mrs. Hill was a native Delawarean, born in Wilmington in 1920, daughter of the late Robert C. Nye and Catharine A. Maguire. A registered nurse by profession, she proudly served her country as a captain in the US Air Force stationed in Japan during the Korean War. Early in her civilian career, she worked for five years in the maternity wing of the former Wilmington General Hospital. She would later accept a position with the VA Hospital in Elsmere, where she retired.
A devout Christian throughout her life, Mrs. Hill was a longtime member of Hope Lutheran Church. She was also active with the church's Food Pantry and with Meals on Wheels for over 25 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyce Homer Hill (1987), stepson, Vinton L. Hill (1992), and brother, William E. Nye III (1996). She is survived by her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Norm Riddell; and three loving nephews, John, Stephen, and Paul Nye.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Jean, Irene, and Kate from Delaware Hospice for their many kindnesses to Mrs. Hill during her illness.
Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Hill may be made to Hope Lutheran Church, 230 Christiana Road, New Castle, DE 19720; or to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
