Marion Ruth Horne

Marion Ruth Horne, age 88, of Forward Manor, formerly of Holly Oak, joined her beloved husband William F. Horne (Bill) in heaven on Wednesday, September 18, 2013. She died peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

Born on April 21, 1925 in Ringtown, PA, Marion was the daughter of the late James and Viola Klingerman, and sister of the late Mildred Ertwine of Ringtown, PA. She loved to tell her grandchildren and great grandchildren about her childhood in Ringtown, about farm life, and how much fun it was to sit on the front porch of her childhood home singing songs while her father played the guitar.

Marrying her high school sweetheart, Bill, in 1943, they moved to Wilmington when Bill took a job at General Motors. They shared 51 loving years together socializing with fellow GM employees, the Nur Temple Shriners, playing cards, dancing, and visiting their favorite getaway in the Pocono Mountains.

Marion was a full time homemaker and hosted countless Sunday dinners and holiday meals, always serving up her family's favorites. She loved to read, do word puzzles, play games, listen to music, stay up late to watch Jay Leno, and go to tea with her friends and family at the Flavour of Britain Tea Room.

As a Charter member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, she was devoted to her church and her faith. She volunteered for many church organizations and activities.

Marion loved her family dearly, and is survived by sister Virginia Squire of Wilmington; sons, William J. (Patricia) of Elkton, MD, Thomas R. (Nancy) of Bethany Beach and Randall M. (Kathleen) of Wilmington; grandchildren, Amy Lewandowski, Christopher Horne, Thomas W. Horne, Timothy Horne, Jennifer Miller, Randi Leigh Reen and Krista Rossetti; and great grandchildren, Connor and Cameron Lewandowski, Brendan, Brett and Stephanie Horne and Brady and Sydney Horne.

Family and friends are invited to attend a service for Marion on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at St Mark's Lutheran Church, 501 Duncan Rd., Bellefonte, Wilmington, DE. Visitation will be from 10-11 AM and the service will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Hwy, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Marion to the , 100 West 10th St., Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801 or Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
